Starting with chapter 2 it includes many new rhythms with odd meters with new bottom numbers. And there are tons of new theory, including altered intervals, triads and triad numbers, and 7th chords, with multiple worksheets to fully understand the student. Of course, there are more exercises and special exercises for specific skills included in the songs. The scales are the keys of C, G, D, A, and F to recap, then B flat and E flat is added. As in Book 3, there are assignment pages which are wonderful for the instructor, student or parent. The major and minor scales are well introduced. Kathi’s pieces are very lovely and the book has many helpful practice tips. I strongly recommend this method as a premier method book.
